NOT ALL SMILES, AFTER ALL
With a growing rise in the use of cheaper alternative clear aligners that are Direct To Consumer or as we call it, "Mail-Order Aligners" or "DIY Aligners", this has raised concerns among dentists and Orthodontists.
Most of these services are likely to be ordered online, then be directed to go a non-Dental Related centre to have scans or more commonly, a box of putty sent to you to have your moulds taken by yourself - without any supervision. Then you would be directed to mail the moulds to an unknown destination, and weeks later, a box of aligners "magically appear" at your doorstep.
Numerous ads on different media platforms from providers such as SmileDirectClub, EZ Smile and Wondersmile have been promoting their alternative options as a more affordable and convenient choice rather than a professionally supervised option, such as Invisalign. This trend has alarmed many dentists and orthodontists, who fear that there might be a rise in dental problems such as gum recession and tooth loss from potentially ill fitted and poorly monitored aligners.
Moving teeth is a complex medical procedure. And the consequences can be dire - and sometimes irreversible.
You've only got 1 set of teeth and you only want to do it once, so make the best decision for your teeth.
